Jacobus

The King James Version of the Bible, or Authorised Version, was first published in 1611.

It was authorized by King James I as an English translation of the Textus Receptus and the Masoretic Hebrew text. Martin Luther had created a translation into the German vernacular in 1522, though English translations originating with John Wycliffe and William Tyndale preceded Luther's efforts and anticipated the Reformation.
